Caine Monroy 9-year cardboard arcade

Caine's Arcade from Nirvan Mullick on Vimeo.

Nirvan says: "I just finished this short film about a 9-year-old boy's elaborate DIY cardboard arcade. Caine made his arcade using boxes from his dad's used auto parts store. He hadn't had many customers, so we set up a fun flashmob to make his day, and filmed his response. I hope it brings a smile to your day. P.S. Caine's Arcade is in East LA. You should visit it sometime - Caine is still building new additions!"

Caine Monroy is a 9-year old boy who spent his summer vacation building an elaborate DIY cardboard arcade in his dad’s used auto parts store.

Caine dreamed of the day he would have lots of customers visit his arcade, and he spent months preparing everything, perfecting the game design, making displays for the prizes, designing elaborate security systems, and hand labeling paper-lunch-gift-bags. However, his dad’s autoparts store (located in an industrial part of East LA) gets almost zero foot traffic, so Caine’s chances of getting a customer were very small, and the few walk in customers that came through were always in too much of a hurry to get their auto part to play Caine’s Arcade. But Caine never gave up.

One day, by chance, I walked into Smart Parts Auto looking for a used door handle for my ’96 Corolla. What I found was an elaborate handmade cardboard arcade manned by a young boy who asked if I would like to play. I asked Caine how it worked and he told me that for $1 I could get two turns, or for $2 I could get a Fun Pass with 500 turns. I got the Fun Pass.

9 Year-Old Girl Gives Birth in China

Peru may well hold the world record for “youngest mother,” but China is definitely in the running as a nine-year old in northeast China has given birth to a healthy child.

Naturally, the parent’s have sought out legal help, as sex with a child under the age of fourteen brings with it an automatic rape conviction. According to hospital statistics, however, young girls not just becoming pregnant but seeking abortions is more common than you might think.

A report from a hospital in Shanghai revealed that approximately 30% of surgical abortions on young children in China were performed on individuals still in school. A hospital owned and operated by the People’s Liberation Army also revealed that 50% of these abortion were performed on women in either college or vocational schools.

The baby was delivered via cesarean section on January 27th at around noon, and weighed in at 2.75kg. According to reporters, the admission of the young girl to the hospital was a fairly taboo subject, and hospital staff were reluctant to discuss the matter. The reporter eventually learned from a registration form the girl’s name, and a nurse eventually revealed that the girl’s family is from Songyuan, and the circumstances surrounding her pregnancy were unknown.

Despite the young age of the mother and the potential for severe complications, it has been reported that the mother and her new baby are doing fine at Changchun hospital, which is located in the Jilin province.

Booze for Your Boobs, Well..mind your size dear..

Boobs, hooters, melons, and tatas—they all refer to those luscious pair of lumpy cushions jutting out every woman’s shirt. I say luscious because every man (or at least every straight one) craves nothing more than to lay his eyes on a big pair of boobs.

It is in fact this very dream that inspired the OverEasy nightclub in Singapore to organize an event officially titled “Fill My Cups,” but better known as “Booze for Your Boobs.”

The ingenious ploy—clearly contrived by one of their very sex-deprived managers—basically states that women with big boobs get freeze booze.

The way it works is like this:

Girls with A-Cup boobs get one free drink.

Girls with B-Cup boobs get two free drinks.

Girls with C-Cup boobs get three drinks drinks.

And girls with big old D-Cup torpedo boobs or larger get an entire bottle of dranky drank worth $168!

To keep things fair, there will be both a male judge and a female judge.

Representing the Ladies is Karen, a lawyer who works for The Lo & Behold Group, which manages the OverEasy nightclub. On the men’s side is DJ D-CUP, whose name was, in fact, the original inspiration for the whole event.

The scheme has thus far drawn rave reviews from the men, but mixed reactions from the Ladies.

Some women, such as 19-year-old Yvonne, believe that the event is degrading: “I think the concept is funny but I would not degrade myself by being a part of it.”

Local student Lek Ning, however, sees the brilliance of such an endeavor because, as she so eloquently stated, “I’m rather proud of my assets.”

Cheryl Ho, spokeswoman for The Lo & Behold Group, defends the event, stating, “Our stance is that it’s all good fun, not sexist, not sleazy. No girls are going to get touched and we are not asking them to flash themselves.”

It works for Marty Gras and ‘Girls Gone Wild,’ so why can’t it work for a Singapore nightclub? Thumbs up or Thumbs Down? Tell us what you think.
